Birmingham City vs Coventry City: ‘Absolute disaster’

Published

on

Birmingham City enters its matchup with Coventry City having just suffered a 1-0 home loss to Cardiff City.

The Blues lost for the fifth time in their previous six games as a result of Josh Bowler’s goal in the second half. They are currently one point outside of safety in 23rd position in the rankings.

In their most recent meeting, Coventry City also lost, falling 2-1 away from home to Southampton, a team vying for promotion.

Before Jake Bidwell cut the deficit in half in the second half, the Saints had leads from Kyle Walker-Peters and Che Adams. Despite failing to produce an equalizer, Mark Robins’ team remains in seventh place in the Championship and is still in the running for a play-off spot.

Here are some of our writers’ predictions for the match

James Ray

Prediction for Birmingham City vs. Coventry City: 0-1

“You can’t help but feel bad for Birmingham City given their current trajectory, but relegation would be an absolute disaster given their ambitious plans for the future.” They’re heading into League One, and facing Coventry City next up won’t make matters any simpler.

The Sky Blues are still vying for a play-off berth, but if they want to finish in the top six, they’ll need to find their form again over these last games.

“It won’t be easy, but the visitors should win to get things back on track. The Blues would suffer yet another major setback, but I don’t think they have much hope.

Jacob Hackett

Prediction for Birmingham City vs. Coventry City: 1-2

The visitors should have more than enough to win this one, but games in this division are rarely as simple as they appear.

“Birmingham has been struggling for some time, and the team has not received the expected reaction to Gary Rowett’s appointment as temporary manager, which was to signal they would not be dropped.

“If Coventry is to keep applying pressure to the top six, they need another win, and I think they will accomplish that this Saturday afternoon.

“Even though I believe it will be a very closely contested match, I am going for an away win.”
