Birmingham City secured three vital points in their quest to stay in the Championship by convincingly defeating play-off contenders Coventry City at a packed St Andrew’s stadium.

With nearly 27,000 supporters in attendance, including six Lille fans who stayed in Birmingham after their team’s Europa Conference League match against Aston Villa, the atmosphere was electric. The presence of these Lille fans, who dubbed themselves as Birmingham’s lucky charm, added a touch of good fortune to the occasion.

Reflecting on their unexpected role in Birmingham’s victory, one of the fans, Louis, expressed their surprise and joy at being able to support both Lille and Birmingham during their memorable stay in the city.

Birmingham City secured a vital win at St. Andrew’s in their battle for survival, with six Lille fans in attendance following their team’s match against Aston Villa. The fans were warmly welcomed by both the club and the local supporters, enjoying the atmosphere and hospitality in Digbeth after the match.

Despite initial skepticism, the fans were determined to bring luck and positivity to Birmingham City in such a crucial match. Attention now turns to Lille and Villa’s upcoming Europa Conference League second leg in France, with the tie finely poised.

Regardless of the outcome on Thursday, Birmingham City will be represented by a flag purchased by their visiting fans over the weekend. The camaraderie and friendship forged with Birmingham supporters have left a lasting impression, with an offer extended to Blues fans to visit Lille in the future.

Louis expressed the intention of returning to St Andrew’s and highlighted the special bond formed during their time in Birmingham, ensuring that the Birmingham City flag will be proudly displayed in the stands during Lille’s upcoming match.
