It’s safe to say that 2023 was quite eventful for Brad Schneider.

Schneider spent the first few games of the 2023 NRL season sitting with the Canberra Raiders. He then spent the rest of the season in Super League with Hull KR.

The halfback scored the game-winning drop goal against Wigan Warriors in the semi-final to help lead Rovers to the Challenge Cup Final. He then assisted in leading the East Yorkshire team to the semi-final play-offs.

After an amazing turnaround, Schneider was able to secure a move to the NRL champion Penrith Panthers. However, prior to the Panthers’ approach, he had stated on the ABC Sport podcast that he planned to stay in the Super League with KR or another team.

“I was unsure of what I was going to do,”

when I crossed over. Schneider stated, “I had planned to stay over there probably for another year, either at Hull KR or another English team.

However, Penrith arrived at the table relatively quickly—within the first few weeks after my arrival. Thus, returning to Australia seemed like the right choice when it came down to it.

“And I’ve always wanted to return to the NRL, so it was kind of a no-brainer when the Panthers came calling and offered me the chance to work with someone like Nathan (Cleary), who you want to learn from.”
