Breaking: A 25-year-old linebacker signs with the Green Bay Packers

This off-season, the Green Bay Packers will be working hard to strengthen their defense. “Middle of the pack” is insufficient for the team led by Jeff Hafley. Prior to the start of the season, Welch, 25, joined the Packers practice squad. In September, he was added to the active roster. He saw 210 special teams snaps in his 14 games played with the team, recording six tackles on those teams.

Welch’s return allows Rich Bisaccia to maintain one of his most reliable special team players, particularly in light of the Packers’ move to a 4-3 base defense.

It will be difficult for Anders Carlson to hold onto his roster spot. He still needs to perform, but the Packers will give him every chance to earn the position.
