With this move, the Badgers have completed their coaching staff.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Thursday, the Wisconsin Badgers have hired E.J. Whitlow, the defensive line coach for the Air Force, to be their next defensive line coach.

Whitlow has played for the Air Force Falcons for the past two seasons. In 2022, he helped the team rank first in the nation for total defense, second for passing defense, and sixth for running defense.

Before taking the helm at Air Force, Whitlow taught for four years at Miami of Ohio University. There, he developed athletes including defensive end Dominique Robinson, a 2022 Chicago Bears fifth-round selection, and linebacker Ivan Pace, a freshman with six sacks.
He spent his first four years of college at Grand Valley State, where he was the assistant coach under current Badgers outside linebackers coach Matt Mitchell.

With defensive line coach Greg Scruggs leaving earlier this month to take a similar role at Michigan—the fourth position coach move of the offseason—the Badgers found themselves shorthanded at the head coaching position.

Along with losing Scruggs, the Badgers also lost offensive line coach Jack Bicknell Jr., wide receivers coach Mike Brown to Notre Dame, and safeties coach Colin Hitschler to Alabama.

With Whitlow joining the team, the Badgers have now finalized their coaching staff in advance of the spring football season.
