Matt Ryan, the former quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, announced his retirement from the NFL in a video. The legendary player for the Falcons is hanging up his spikes after a 15-year playing tenure.

Ryan was chosen by the Falcons as the third overall choice in the 2008 NFL Draft. For the 2016 campaign, he was named an All-Pro and the NFL MVP. As a member of the Falcons, he was selected to the Pro Bowl four times.

The Atlanta Falcons soared to No. 2 with Matt Ryan

Ryan guided the Falcons to unprecedented heights since Chris Chandler’s time in the lineup. The squad won its first Super Bowl since 1998 thanks to Ryan’s outstanding effort in the 2016 campaign. The Falcons would finish second in the league under No. 2. The Falcons lost 34-28 in Super Bowl LI to the New England Patriots after blowing a 28-3 lead with Ryan at quarterback.

Ryan remained an Atlanta player through the 2021 campaign. Before the 2022 season, the Falcons transferred Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a third-round selection. Sadly, Ryan only spent one season playing under Frank Reich, the quarterback killer, before the Colts cut him go in March of the 2023 offseason. He was unable to secure work for the 2023 season.
