Former Sheffield Wednesday forward Michail Antonio has been involved in a road traffic accident and was airlifted to hospital…
West Ham has provided an update on the health of Michail Antonio, a former Sheffield Wednesday attacker who was hurt in a traffic accident on Saturday. “West Ham United can confirm striker Michail Antonio has been involved in a road traffic accident today,” the team said in a statement on Saturday afternoon.
“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the Club are with Michail, his family and friends at this time… The Club will issue an update in due course.”
We respectfully request that everyone respect Michail and his family’s privacy at this trying time. The Club will provide an additional update when it is appropriate, but it will not speak further tonight. Before being traded to Nottingham Forest in 2014, Antonio rose to prominence at Hillsborough and was instrumental in the team’s 2011–12 promotion out of League One. As they wait for more information on the Jamaican international’s condition, fans will be itching for him to fully recuperate.
