Police in Adelaide have detained a man after discovering a vast amount of purportedly stolen goods on his property, including multiple trucks, horse buggies, four-wheel drives, and twenty cargo containers.

Following a police inquiry into purportedly stolen property, Burton, in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, was located.

According to South Australian Police, the 41-year-old man’s property also included drugs and a covert laboratory.

The police estimated that inventorying the things would take many days.

“Police have already started identifying property to return it to its owners, but we suspect there will be a lot of property here that may not have been reported stolen or is difficult to identify,” Andrew McCracken, the chief inspector, said.

“We need the public’s assistance in identifying this pilfered item. Please call Crime Stoppers if you think your stolen stuff might be here at Burton.”

The cargo included, according to the police, industrial trailers, bobcats, and several types of forklifts, including nautical ones.

“Approximately 20 shipping containers, some stacked three-high, suspected of being stolen and containing additional stolen goods, including tools and safes, were located on the site,” according to a police official.

Authorities claim to have found a large amount of methamphetamine and a covert laboratory in one of the shipping containers, which they are currently disassembling.

The Burton man was accused of stealing, illegal possession, possession of prescription equipment, and trafficking in controlled substances.

He will now appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today after being denied police bail.
