When the NFL regular season starts on March 13, thirteen former Georgia Bulldogs will be eligible for free agency. In addition, Georgia men’s basketball drops a game in the SEC, but UGA women’s basketball wins over Florida to avoid last-place status.

The official start of the new league year, which is quickly approaching, marks the beginning of NFL free agency. Prior to the draft, clubs will be focusing on adding NFL veterans to their rosters. First, NFL teams will assess this week’s draft class at the NFL combine.

A number of former Georgia Bulldogs, many of whom were important members of their squad in 2023, will be available for grabs. None are anticipated to be franchise-tagged before the deadline of March 5, though.

D’Andre Swift was moved by the Detroit Lions to the Philadelphia Eagles during the previous offseason, just prior to the conclusion of his four-year rookie contract. Swift, who was behind Philadelphia’s outstanding offensive line, at last maintained his health to record a career-high 1,029 running yards and five touchdowns on 229 attempts.

He will now make his debut on the open market. Even though there isn’t much competition for running backs in the NFL, Spotrac estimated that Swift would be worth $6.7 million annually, which would be a significant increase from his $8.7 million career earnings.

Twelve other former Bulldogs who will be eligible for free agency join Swift:

Leonard Floyd, RB, D’Andre Swift, and EDGE
Justin Houston, EDGE
WR Isaiah McKenzie, WR Isaiah Wynn, OG Mecole Hardman
QB Jake Fromm
Herring, Malik, DE (limited FA)
The DE Jonathan Ledbetter
Charlie Woerner, TE, and Chris Conley, WR
DT John Jenkins
TE Lawrence Cager

Auburn wins the men’s basketball game at George.
Georgia men’s basketball played No. 14 Auburn on Saturday, and the Tigers easily won 97-76 thanks to 25 points from San Diego State transfer Chad Baker-Mazara. Noah Thomasson led Georgia with eighteen points, followed by Silas Demary Jr. and Russell Tchewa with sixteen apiece.

Georgia only ended 3/14 from beyond the arc, while Auburn shot an astounding 53.8% from three on 26 attempts. With a 15-12 overall record and a 5-9 SEC record, the Bulldogs are good for 11th place in the conference.

With just four games left on the schedule, the Georgia men will play the Tigers again on March 9 to end the regular season. At LSU on Tuesday, the Bulldogs will kick it off once more.

Women’s basketball at Georgia defeats Florida
When Georgia women’s basketball played the Florida Gators on Sunday, they had already suffered four straight losses. Leading scorer for Georiga this season, Javyn Nicholson, finished with a game-high 26 points, and the Bulldogs defeated the Gators 76-60 thanks to a 60-40 rebounding advantage.

The Bulldogs’ victory, their third in SEC play this year, gave them a little breathing distance ahead of the Missouri Tigers, who are currently in last place at 2-11. The 13–15 (3–11) Dawgs play their penultimate regular-season game at Stegeman on Thursday against LSU.
