BREAKING NEWS: Authorities are searching for a suspect following an incident where a 76-year-old woman was shot in the face with a pellet gun in Scarborough.

Police are searching for a suspect after a senior citizen was shot multiple times in the face with a pellet gun in Scarborough on Wednesday. The incident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Hupfield Trail and McLevin Avenue, near Neilson Road, following reports of “unknown trouble” received by Toronto police.

According to a statement released by the authorities, a 76-year-old woman was walking along Hupfield Trail when she was approached from behind by an assailant. After passing the victim, the suspect proceeded to shoot her “several times in the face with a pellet gun,” causing non-life-threatening injuries to her face and hands. Subsequently, the suspect fled the scene.

Suspect sought after woman shot in the face in brazen daytime attack

Following the incident, a woman with injuries was observed seeking assistance in front of Mary Shadd Public School in Scarborough, approximately a seven-minute walk from the location of the shooting. Police and paramedics attended to the woman outside the school. As a precautionary measure, the elementary school was placed on hold-and-secure status, which was lifted just after 1:30 p.m., as confirmed by the police.

In efforts to apprehend the suspect, authorities have released a news release containing images of the individual, described as wearing a three-quarter-length grey jacket, black pants, and concealing their face and head with dark clothing.
