NEWS: Mark Robins provides injury update on Liam Kelly - News - Coventry City

Tavares, aged 23, entered the pitch as one of three impact substitutions just after the hour mark when Coventry City found themselves 3-0 down to the Premier League giants. However, his fresh attacking presence ignited City’s remarkable comeback, leading to Ellis Simms’ goal in the 71st minute and further reducing the deficit before Haji Wright’s equalizer from the spot, ultimately taking the tie to extra time.

Despite his significant role in the comeback, Tavares was unable to continue and had to be substituted at the halfway point of extra time, with Matty Godden taking his place.

Regarding Tavares’ injury, Robins stated, “He was injured. It was his ankle but I don’t know how bad it is. He just wasn’t moving right. He wanted to stay on but he just wasn’t moving right, so we had to try and make that change there because that right-hand side was looking really profitable for us.”

Given Tavares’ impact in the game and his recent positive contributions, Robins will be hoping the injury isn’t severe and that the player will be available for Coventry City’s upcoming fixture against Hull City at the CBS Arena on Wednesday night.
