BREAKING NEWS: Demario Davis of the New Orleans Saints named Pro Bowl Defensive MVP.

With his current play, Demario Davis is among the NFL’s older statesmen. But when they were named the most influential defensive player among the many Pro Bowlers that convened in Orlando, Florida, over the course of the previous week, the New Orleans Saints OLD demonstrated that age truly is nothing.

In addition, his most recent Pro Bowl performance was good news for an NFC South squad that really needs it.

Davis was able to leave his mark on the AFC’s offensive players during the Pro Bowl celebrations. He was able to win the award because to his performance in flag football and the other games they played.

What this honor meant to the 35-year-old linebacker was described by Canal Street Chronicles’ Tina Howell:

Davis said of winning the award, “First, I had a lot of great teammates, the best in the business,” They played awesome. I got to give a major shoutout to them. It was great being on the NFC team, the winning team. But most importantly, being on the winning team, which is the Kingdom of God. That’s where my power comes from. That’s where the glory goes. But being on this stage with the greats. Like Eli Manning, DeMarcus Ware, and going against Peyton Manning, Ray Lewis, the legends of the game, you know you got to be locked in mentally and that’s how we showed up. So, it’s an honor to be here.”

Davis has performed admirably for the New Orleans Saints as a linebacker. This past season, the last-minute replacement for Fred Warner made sure his presence was known, recording 6.5 sacks, 74 solo tackles, one forced fumble, and one 20-yard fumble recovery.

It’s seeming less and less probable that the 12-year veteran will be able to help the New Orleans Saints win a Lombardi trophy, and he might not have much left in the tank. He could, however, hope that the team’s new offensive coordinator would treat him fairly and guide the group to an unexpected Super Bowl victory the following year.
