BREAKING NEWS: Dom Iorfa discusses Sheffield Wednesday’s future as his contract with the Owls is about to expire.

Dominic Iorfa, a defender for Sheffield Wednesday, says he would be more than pleased to stay with the team should the chance to do so arise.

Iorfa, who is now making an effort to regain his place in Danny Röhl’s starting lineup following his injury, will have done himself no harm at all this weekend by setting up Iké Ugbo’s game-winning goal away against Rotherham United.

The 28-year-old has played in over 150 Wednesday games over the years, and as he and his teammates look to secure a fantastic escape and stay in the Championship for 2024–2025, he’ll be aiming to log a few more before the season ends.

His contract at Hillsborough expires in the summer, so it’s unclear what will happen after that. He acknowledges that he’s not too worried about it right now, focusing instead on the task at hand.

He told The Star, “I’ve been out, so I’ve just been concentrating on getting back fit.” And I anticipate that some talks will happen during the ensuing few months. Now that the timeframe has closed, perhaps we can resolve this. In the meantime, my main emphasis has been on getting back in shape so I can resume my best work and assist the team in winning.

I’ve been here for a while, so I feel really at home. I would thus be pleased to stay if it happened because I am familiar with the club and its support base. However, we’ll see. Now that I’m back, my priorities are reintegrating into the team and giving my best work, after which we can decide where to proceed.

Wednesday will play again this evening at S6 when Plymouth Argyle visits the city. Iorfa will be looking to maintain the record that has seen the Owls win their past four games in which he has appeared.
