Ghana has terminated Chris Hughton’s coaching role following the early exit of the Black Stars from the Africa Cup of Nations. The team, led by Hughton, couldn’t secure a victory in any of their three group-stage matches in Cote D’Ivoire, managing only two points and concluding third in Group B.
The Ghana Football Federation announced the dismissal on Tuesday, revealing that the decision was made by the executive council. The statement also mentioned the dissolution of the technical team of the Black Stars. Despite the possibility of advancement as one of the best third-placed teams after a disappointing draw against Mozambique, Ghana’s hopes were dashed as Cameroon defeated The Gambia 3-2 on Tuesday, sealing the elimination of the Black Stars from the tournament. The Ghana Football Association plans to unveil a roadmap for the future direction of the Black Stars in the coming days.
