BREAKING NEWS: Leeds United starting XI and substitutes after January Window, as Daniel Farke confronts crucial decisions in defense and midfield.

Daniel Farke now finds himself with an abundance of choices in his Leeds United squad as they move forward into the remainder of the season.

Despite only securing one new signing in January, the squad suddenly appears brimming with options thanks to the emergence of several fringe players in 2024. Farke had seemingly established a settled starting XI between October and December, but a poor run of results during the festive period has led to the integration of players like Patrick Bamford, Junior Firpo, and Ilia Gruev into the team.

These players have now cemented their places in the starting lineup due to their recent performances. However, when all players are fit and available, some big names will inevitably find themselves on the sidelines.

With this in consideration, here is our attempt at selecting the strongest XI and bench:

**Goalkeeper**: Illan Meslier appears to be one of the few players whose position in the starting lineup is assured.

**Defence**

The defensive positions present 50/50 calls in almost every position across the back four. Archie Gray has excelled at right-back this season, but Connor Roberts, with his promotion experience, adds competition. On the other side, Sam Byram and Junior Firpo are closely matched, but Firpo’s attacking prowess gives him the edge. In the center, Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk have been Farke’s preferred partnership, though Ethan Ampadu’s impressive performances make him difficult to leave out.

**Midfield**

Bringing Struijk back into the defense affects the midfield dynamics. Gruev and Kamara have formed a solid partnership, but Ampadu’s versatility demands his inclusion. While Gruev may be more suitable for certain matches, Kamara’s form gives him an edge. Additionally, Gray offers another strong midfield option.

**Attack**

Joel Piroe’s initial run of starts has been interrupted, with Bamford now the preferred choice upfront. Mateo Joseph provides competition, while Rutter is also in contention. Summerville is a clear choice on the left, with James getting the nod on the right, although Gnonto’s recent form warrants consideration.

**Best XI**

Meslier; Roberts, Rodon, Struijk, Firpo; Ampadu, Gruev, James, Rutter, Summerville, Bamford

**Bench**

Darlow, Gray, Cooper, Byram, Kamara, Gnonto, Anthony, Piroe, Joseph
