Now that Jim Harbaugh is actively considering his NFL possibilities, recruiting is essentially at a halt. There are still a lot of topics to cover, though.

This episode of the Recruiting Roundup will cover several intriguing events in the Michigan Wolverines’ 2025 cycle.

Top 100 defenders are trending for Michigan

Michigan’s defensive success this season, particularly in the secondary, has made the university an attractive destination for top-tier defensive backs, including four-star prospect Alex Graham from the 2025 class.

Currently ranked as the 99th player in the 2025 class, Graham hails from IMG Academy, a powerhouse in Florida. Standing at a solid 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 186 pounds, Graham, formerly of Cass Tech in Detroit, has a strong connection with Michigan.

Graham has garnered interest from more than two dozen schools, with Michigan and other prestigious programs being among his top choices. He mentioned Penn State, USC, Utah, Ohio State, Miami, and others as schools he is closely considering.

Having made the move to IMG Academy, Graham has gained national recognition, attracting attention from major programs that regularly scout recruits. Schools like Georgia, Florida, and Colorado have shown interest, even though they haven’t extended offers yet.

Despite the early stages of Graham’s recruitment, he intends to keep his options open and is not in a hurry to commit. Planning to make a decision in the summer, Graham acknowledges the competition from various major programs vying for his commitment. However, Michigan seems to align with what he is seeking in a college destination.

In addition to the relationships he and the coaches forged throughout the recruiting process, he added, “I look at who they developed and put in the league, the relationship with their players, and the graduation rate plays a big part as well.”

Michigan is one of the best universities for three-star OT.

Despite not winning the Joe Moore Award last season, Michigan secured the National Championship under the guidance of Sherrone Moore, attracting attention from top offensive line prospects like 2025 three-star recruit Logan Powell, who has a family legacy at U-M.

Powell has been a target for Michigan since the beginning, receiving his first significant offer from the Wolverines in the spring before his sophomore season. During a recent recruiting trip out west, Coach Moore visited Powell at Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy College Prep, underscoring Michigan’s strong interest in him. Powell expressed gratitude for the visit, emphasizing discussions about the upcoming offensive line and other developments at Michigan, including insights from head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Having taken two unofficial visits to Michigan, including one for the game against Purdue in November, Powell has been impressed by Moore’s accomplishments as the offensive coordinator, offensive line coach, and interim head coach during Harbaugh’s suspension. Powell and his family had the opportunity to sit down with Moore during their fall visit, contributing to the development of their relationship.

Despite uncertainties surrounding Harbaugh’s future in Ann Arbor, Moore’s efforts to build relationships with top prospects like Powell are crucial. Powell doesn’t foresee Harbaugh’s potential departure negatively impacting his recruitment, expressing confidence in Moore’s leadership. Even if Moore were promoted to head coach, Powell maintains that Michigan would remain a top-ranked school for him.

Powell currently holds offers from over a dozen schools, with more likely to come. Among those pursuing the three-star recruit are Washington, USC, Oregon, Tennessee, and others.

Michigan selects a four-star wide receiver in the top six.

A four-star offensive standout from Ohio in the 2025 class, has Michigan at the top of his list — Quintin Simmons Jr

Cincinnati, Penn State, West Virginia, Syracuse, and Kentucky are also among the top schools on his list.

Simmons’ future destination is presently unknown, but it seems Kentucky is setting the bar high for his recruiting thus far. However, the Wolverines have recently selected a number of players from Ohio, so Simmons would probably fit in well in Ann Arbor.

According to 247Sports’ composite, Simmons is presently ranked as the No. 10 player in Ohio and the No. 30 wide receiver.
