Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo will be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season following confirmation from an MRI that he has a strained left calf. While his status for the beginning of the playoffs is uncertain, his absence adds uncertainty to the team’s postseason prospects.

Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is set to sit out the remainder of the regular season due to a confirmed strained left calf, as per an MRI examination. His participation in the upcoming playoffs remains uncertain.

Antetokounmpo exited Tuesday night’s game against the Boston Celtics with difficulty running upcourt in the latter part of the third quarter. The Bucks provided an update on his condition the following day.

The team found solace in the fact that Antetokounmpo’s injury was limited to his calf, as there were concerns about his Achilles tendon following remarks by coach Doc Rivers post-game.

Bucks guard Damian Lillard expressed relief, emphasizing the significance of the diagnosis for the team’s prospects. He stated, “That was great news, I’m sure, for everybody.”

With two regular-season games left, the Bucks refrained from speculating on Antetokounmpo’s potential availability at the outset of the playoffs.

Coach Rivers highlighted the uncertainty surrounding Antetokounmpo’s return timeline, but expressed confidence in the team’s support system. He stated, “There’s no one who’s going to work harder than him. You know that.”

When asked about Antetokounmpo’s playoff readiness, Rivers refrained from making any definitive statements.
