Senegal coach Aliou Cisse has rejoined his team on Saturday after spending a night under observation in a hospital in Ivory Coast. The Lions of Teranga, defending their Africa Cup of Nations title, received the news from the country’s football federation.
According to Senegalese Football Federation president Augustin Senghor, Cisse experienced a “small gastric infection” on Thursday, leaving him feeling somewhat fatigued. Despite his condition, Cisse managed to be on the sidelines for Senegal’s 3-1 victory over Cameroon in Yamoussoukro, securing their qualification for the last 16.
Senghor explained that Cisse was slightly weakened, prompting doctors to admit him to the hospital and administer a drip. The official, who was in the neighboring city of Bouake for two Cup of Nations matches, reassured that the situation is not severe, stating, “But it is nothing serious. I would not be in Bouake if my coach had had a heart attack.”
