BREAKING NEWS: Southampton’s chase of Juventus star could depend on one big condition

It has been reported that Southampton is interested in Matías Soulé.
The transfer target for Southampton might stay with the Italian powerhouses in the event that Chiesa leaves, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

With his contract expiring in 2025, the 26-year-old’s circumstances are expected to become a major talking point at the Serie A club at the end of the season.

Soulé is drawing a lot of attention as well; Crystal Palace is said to be interested in the winger.

All of this might be significant for the Saints in their summer business plan, since they are already making plans for the next window.

Clubs outside of Europe are showing interest in Chiesa due to his contract predicament, but Juventus is eager to work out a deal to keep him with the Bianconeri.

Soulé, a transfer target for Southampton who is presently on loan at Frosinone, may be able to move because of this.

With 10 goals and two assists in the Italian top division this season, Soulé has garnered a great deal of praise for his achievements with the mid-table Serie A team (all statistics courtesy of Fbref).

This sparked transfer rumors in January, but he decided to stay with Frosinone to finish the season with the team.
However, Soulé is expected to make a summer move to either Southampton or Palace, so the Saints could need to win promotion to the Premier League to persuade him to change teams.

Nothing is confirmed at this point in the season, but Juve hasn’t ruled out selling both players. If Chiesa leaves, it will likely require a sizable offer to cash in on Soulé.

Last weekend, Chiesa was the target of jeers from the home crowd, suggesting that things are not going well between him and the club right now.
Though Juve is only aiming for a one-year extension to the forward’s current contract, it is thought that things might move rather swiftly in either direction.

The last several weeks have been detrimental to the Saints’ chances of promotion, which may potentially affect their chances of signing the Argentine.

Due to their three straight losses, Russell Martin’s team is now fourth in the standings.

There are now 12 games left in the Championship season, and five points separates the teams that will automatically advance.

The play-offs provide the south coast club with an other path back to the Premier League, so they should be guaranteed a spot there.

Southampton’s next match is an FA Cup fifth round away to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

The Soulé transfer chase must wait.
Before Southampton to pursue Soulé in any way, they probably have to wait to find out their league standing for the following season.

They might also have to wait until Chiesa’s future is resolved, as Juve’s top focus this summer is probably going to be that.
If the Old Lady wants to keep the midfield player after his brief stint in Italy, the fact that they also have Carlos Alcaraz on loan from the Saints could assist them get a deal done.
If not, signing Soulé is probably going to be a costly move that requires Premier League funding to be feasible.
