On Thursday, FBI agents conducted morning raids at two Bronx addresses owned by Winnie Greco, a former fundraiser for New York City Mayor Eric Adams who now serves as his director of Asian affairs. The purpose of the investigation wasn’t disclosed, and it’s unclear if it’s linked to Adams, indicating increased law enforcement scrutiny of the Democratic mayor and his inner circle.

The investigation leading to the raids was overseen by the U.S. attorney’s office in Brooklyn, separate from a criminal inquiry by federal prosecutors in Manhattan, which previously led to FBI agents seizing Adams’ electronic devices last fall.

Neighbors reported that federal agents began searching Greco’s two homes, located on the same block, around 6 a.m. and remained in the area for several hours.

Following the raids, Greco was placed on leave, according to a City Hall spokesperson. She had been a prolific fundraiser and had worked closely with Adams for over a decade, particularly engaging with the city’s Asian-American communities.

In November, the city’s Department of Investigation initiated a probe into Greco’s conduct after a news report raised questions about her political fundraising and whether she exploited her position in the administration for personal gain.
