As of January 23, a recent injury setback for Abdallah Sima at Ibrox, confirmed by Philippe Clement on Tuesday, has been reported by a Scottish news outlet. This development could potentially compel the Light Blues to consider a last-minute move to secure a new attacker.

Manhoef has emerged as a top target for the Gers this month with the Scottish Sun reporting back on 29 December that the club are readying a £2.5m swoop for the Dutch youngster.

In a recent update, it has been revealed that Rangers have not yet solidified their interest in the 22-year-old winger with an official approach. Despite the setback of Abdallah Sima’s injury, which makes his long-term absence a significant blow, the Gers are yet to make a formal move in pursuit of the player.

In the SPFL, the attacker has contributed significantly with nine goals and two assists in 18 games. His impact in the offensive plays will be sorely missed at Ibrox, especially given Rangers’ struggles to find a regular and consistent goalscorer.

While the loan arrival of Fabio Silva from Wolves will help alleviate the absence of the Senegalese star, the void left by Sima is expected to be keenly felt. This is the primary reason behind Rangers’ pursuit of another forward. Although players like Rabbi Matondo, Scott Wright, Ross McCausland, and Todd Cantwell have the capability to fill in, doubts persist regarding their effectiveness and goal-scoring prowess compared to what Sima has provided.

Million Manhoef emerges as an attractive option for the Gers, having scored four goals in 17 Eredivisie games for Vitesse. However, it is acknowledged that he alone may not be the definitive solution to fill the void left by Sima’s absence, as the team looks for options to maintain their attacking prowess.

Despite the challenges associated with making significant signings in the January transfer window, Rangers should still consider pursuing some of Europe’s most promising hidden gems. With a relatively modest price tag of £2.5 million attached to Million Manhoef, it could be worthwhile for the club to initiate an official approach at this moment.

Acquiring talented young players, especially when they become available mid-season, presents a valuable opportunity for Rangers. Despite the difficulties associated with the transfer window timing, the potential addition of Manhoef could prove to be a strategic move for the club.
