West Ham United faced Everton away at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, securing a 3-1 victory. Despite initially trailing, David Moyes’s team rallied to claim all three points against Everton, who are in danger of relegation to the Championship this season.

Sue Smith, reporting for Sky Sports, was particularly impressed by goalkeeper Alphonse Areola’s performance during the match. Smith highlighted Areola’s exceptional save during the second half, including his crucial stop of Beto’s penalty.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Smith remarked at 4:32 pm on March 2, 2024: “Areola has been absolutely superb. He obviously saved the penalty, saved a couple of other opportunities. Beto, outside the area, deflected, his shot, and Areola comes from nowhere to save it.”

In my perspective, Alphonse Areola often flies under the radar despite being a highly capable goalkeeper in the Premier League. Although he may not frequently receive accolades, Areola consistently performs his duties with skill and effectiveness.

At 31 years old, Areola is currently excelling in his prime. It’s worth noting his extensive experience, having played over 70 Ligue 1 matches for Paris Saint-Germain and also enjoying a loan spell at Real Madrid. Additionally, he was part of the French squad that won the 2018 World Cup and reached the final in 2022.
