BREAKING NEWS: The Timberwolves Rudy Gobert criticizes Alex Caruso during the crushing Bulls defeat

Rudy Gobert makes a strong statement following the Timberwolves vs. Bulls altercation.

Before both teams left for the locker rooms during Sunday’s game in the Twin Cities, Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso and Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert got into a small argument.

Rudy Gobert of the Timberwolves is not pleased with Alex Caruso

Just before the game’s time ran out in the second quarter, Caruso appeared to accidentally (?) hit the Timberwolves center when boxing out for a rebound. This appeared to be the catalyst for the altercation. Gobert became enraged and turned to confront the Bulls player, Caruso. Luckily, players from both sides attempted to put themselves between Gobert and Caruso before things escalated into anything more serious, and cooler heads won out.

Gobert let his frustration out after the game.

According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, Gobert stated, “I had a knee injury a couple years ago on the same play and missed a month because someone ran into my knee.”

“I hope they take a look at this because I’m going to hold people accountable myself if they don’t.” Gobert continued.

Given his reputation as one of the league’s hardest-working players, Caruso probably only wanted the rebound without intending to harm Gobert or anybody else.

But at that point, he probably ought to have been more cognizant of the state of the game. In the second quarter, the timer had already elapsed, and Gobert didn’t appear to have a chance at all as the shot soared past the hoop. Nevertheless, some argue that Caruso was following his gut.

Ultimately, the Bulls triumphed over Gobert and the Timberwolves, winning 109-101. That ended Minnesota’s run of four straight victories and helped the Bulls easily defeat the dominant Timberwolves of the Western Conference 2-0 in their regular-season matchup.

Gobert shot 8/9 from the field in 38 minutes to complete the Bulls game with 19 points, 19 rebounds, two steals, a block, and an assist. Playing in his second season with the Timberwolves, the 31-year-old Gobert is averaging 13.8 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game this season while shooting 65.7 percent from the field.

In his 35 minutes of play, Caruso, on the other hand, put up 21 points, five rebounds, five assists, five steals, and shot 7/8 (all 3-pointers) from the field to help the Bulls, who now stand at 36-39 and have a better chance of at least qualifying for the Play-in Tournament.

Minnesota is still fighting for the Western Conference’s top seed.
The Timberwolves are essentially guaranteed a position in the NBA postseason despite the loss to the Bulls. Only the Oklahoma City Thunder and the league champions, who are currently ranked first and second in the Western Conference rankings, respectively, have guaranteed postseason places in the West.

The Timberwolves can still win more games to bolster their candidacy for the top seed in the West with eight games left in the regular season, but that is no longer entirely within their control. However, if the Timberwolves complete their remaining tasks, they will automatically be ranked second, and if they win five more games, they will be ranked at least third.

After taking Monday off, Minnesota will resume play at home on Tuesday against the visiting Houston Rockets.
