Technical director Tim Steidten emphasizes that he is just beginning his journey at West Ham and opens up about his relationship with manager David Moyes.

Last July, there were rumors that Steidten might leave West Ham due to difficulties in his working relationship with Moyes. Journalists Graeme Bailey and Toby Cudworth discussed these rumors on the Talking Transfers podcast, suggesting that Steidten found it challenging to work with Moyes. A senior source close to the West Ham owners neither confirmed nor denied these rumors, stating that Steidten found Moyes to be “very hard work.”

Despite these challenges, Steidten stayed at the club and played a key role in overseeing a successful summer transfer window. He helped bring in new players like Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez, and Konstantinos Mavropanos, with Moyes ultimately signing off on these transfers.

It has been clarified that Steidten will have full control of recruitment starting from the next summer transfer window. Even if Moyes remains at West Ham, his new contract, if signed, will likely include clauses removing his power of veto on transfers, giving Steidten ultimate authority in this area.

Steidten views building a new-look West Ham team as a long-term project, estimating it to be a four-to-five-year endeavor. He expresses enthusiasm for his role at the club and appreciates the opportunity to work alongside Moyes, from whom he has learned a great deal about football perspectives.

Despite the initial challenges, Steidten and Moyes have developed mutual respect for each other, as evidenced by their interactions on and off the pitch. Steidten describes his experience in England as beneficial for his professional development and expresses his eagerness to continue contributing to the club’s growth.
