Regarding the retirement of his brother Jason, Travis Kelce hasn’t spoken anything. In fact, he has been quite insistent about coming back. After their time in the NFL, Travis at last talked about how much his brother meant to him.
With tears in his eyes, Travis continues to describe their journey and how he led the way. The message was one of gratitude overall. Not only does Travis express his gratitude to Jason, but Jason reciprocates the sentiment.
On Monday, Jason Kelce declared his retirement. He was among the greatest players to wear an Eagles uniform in history. Jason genuinely altered the game of football and may have been the greatest center to have ever played. Jalen Hurts received credit for the “Tush Push” play because of his unparalleled mobility as a pulling center, but Kelce was the one who really made the play.
The legacy of Jason Kelce’s retirement speech is unending. One that captures a passionate career. The Philadelphia Enquirer has the entire annotated speech, and the Eagles website has the video. It is worthwhile to look at.
“The NFL truly is unlike any other place and serves as a unique representation of America.” On the same field as lean wide receivers from Louisiana are obese offensive lineman from Cleveland. Skinny Batman, aka DeVonta Smith, is a native of Amite City, Los Angeles. And one of Chicago’s kickers, Jake Elliott, hails from the suburb of Western Springs, Illinois.
Stanford tight ends line up next to Kilgore Community College tackles. Lane Johnson attended Kilgore for a full year before moving to Oklahoma. Playing next to defensive tackles from Yazoo City, Mississippi, are defensive ends from inner-city Detroit (Brandon Graham is a native of the Motor City). That is the hometown of Fletcher Cox.
Jordan Mailata, six feet nine. The Australian is listed by the Eagles as six feet eight. shares a sport with four-foot-eight-inch player Darren Sproles. To be fair, Sproles—who is currently a scout with the Eagles—is five feet six inches tall.
“With all of my heart, Philadelphia, I thank you. I appreciate you letting me represent this city and inviting me into your Sunday homes. It has been a true honor. You have all shown my family and I such kindness.
Retirement of Travis Kelce
After winning his third Super Bowl, there were rumors that Travis Kelce would retire. When Travis expressed his ambition to win a third straight Super Bowl, his fourth overall, the suspicions were swiftly put to rest.
Travis has been a three-time Super Bowl champion (LIV, LVII, LVIII), four-time first-team All-Pro (2016, 2018, 2020, 2022), three-time second-team All-Pro (2017, 2019, 2021), to the Pro Bowl nine times (2015–2023), and named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. Some would say he has accomplished enough.
Travis Kelce is entering the last year of his contract. He just completed his 11th year in the NFL, and some may wonder if this will be it for Travis.
