Although the Seattle Seahawks are without a head coach, their general manager is still in place.
Seattle Seahawks Draft: Miller of ESPN discusses Penix’s stock and J.J. McCarthy’s potential
Following Pete Carroll’s resignation as head coach earlier this month, John Schneider, general manager of Seattle since 2010, is currently searching for Carroll’s successor.
In late April, Schneider and his front office are keeping an eye on the NFL Draft. Now that college football has concluded, the selection process will begin in earnest the following week at the Senior Bowl, run by former Seahawks scout Jim Nagy.
Thus, even if the Seahawks don’t currently have a head coach, which players fit the description of John Schneider? On Thursday, Matt Miller, the ESPN draft analyst, matched Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk with two defenders.
The first player Miller mentioned would assist the Seahawks, who finished the last two seasons as one of the NFL’s worst run defenses. The Seahawks need reinforcements on the defensive line.
Miller said, “Darius Robinson from Missouri.” “.. He can bump down, but he can also play standing up in Missouri. He is 6 feet 5 and 290 pounds.
Robinson’s performance in 2023 earned him a spot on the first team of the SEC, as he recorded 14 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, and one forced and recovered fumble.
“Once more, we’re not sure about the plan, but given John’s preferences for size and versatility up front, I believe Darius Robinson, who could be selected in the third round, could be the guy,” Miller remarked.
The Seahawks also enter the offseason with questions at linebacker as starters Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks are pending free agents, as is backup Devin Bush.
There’s a linebacker who Miller thinks has what the Seahawks typically desire at that position, it’s just unclear whether they’ll have the chance to get him since Seattle doesn’t have a second-round pick.
“I would immediately jump on my desk and select Texas A&M linebacker Edgerrin Cooper if the Seahawks had a second-round pick because I remember thinking to myself after watching Jordyn Brooks that this is a player for the Seattle Seahawks.” Miller remarked, “Edgerrin Cooper is the same way. “However, he will be off the board before Seattle has an opportunity to select him in the second round.”
For the Aggies in 2023, Cooper—a first-team All-American—had 83 tackles, eight sacks, 17 tackles for loss, and ten quarterback hits.
