BREAKING NEWS: UNC Football Schedule for 2024 Announced

North Carolina’s whole 2024 schedule was revealed by the ACC on Wednesday evening.

The road opener for UNC’s season is against Minnesota on August 29. Home matches against James Madison, Charlotte, and N.C. Central are scheduled for the remaining non-conference games.

September 28 in Durham, versus Duke, will be the team’s first ACC match. The Tar Heels will compete in conference play against Boston College, Duke, Florida State, Virginia, and Georgia Tech. They will also host N.C. State, Pitt, Wake Forest, and Wake Forest.

UNC’s upcoming basketball schedule includes repeat matchups from the previous season against Duke, N.C. State, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Pitt, and Minnesota. In the previous season, the Tar Heels secured victories at home against Minnesota and Duke, as well as a road win against Pitt. However, they faced losses on the road against N.C. State and Georgia Tech and suffered their first home defeat of the season against Virginia.

Notably, Florida State clinched the conference title in 2023 with a flawless 8-0 record in ACC play. UNC’s last encounter with the Seminoles took place in 2021, resulting in a 35-25 home loss.

In the 2024 season, UNC will not compete against the ACC’s three new teams—SMU, Stanford, and Cal—until the 2025 season due to changes in the conference’s scheduling model. The updated model, incorporating these new additions, ensures that between 2024 and 2030, every ACC team will face each other at least twice. Additionally, there will be 16 annual matchups within the conference that will remain constant, with UNC having Duke, N.C. State, and Virginia as its three yearly opponents.

In 2023, North Carolina finished 8-5 overall and 4-4 in the ACC. The team had an unfortunate decline after winning its first six games, dropping the Duke Mayo Bowl in Charlotte to West Virginia and losing four of its last regular season games.

Leading the Tar Heels into the spring is Mack Brown, who enters the sixth season of his second stint at UNC with a 38-27 record.

The two clubs with the highest conference winning percentage will square off in the conference championship game after the conference eliminated divisions last season. The ACC title game this year will take place at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Saturday, December 6.

UNC’s last conference championship came in 1980. The squad’s final conference championship appearance came in 2022, when they were defeated by Clemson.
