BREAKING NEWS:”Fear” was a factor in Sunderland’s defeat by Birmingham.

Birmingham City’s match-winner Koji Miyoshi asserts that Sunderland’s collapse at St. Andrew’s was partially caused by “fear.”

On Saturday, Sunderland suffered yet another setback as they lost 2-1 to Birmingham on the road. Before the Black Cats crumbled in the second half to suffer yet another loss, Jack Clarke gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the first half.

This week, Sunderland had lost to a team far down in the standings for the second time. But this outcome was even more humiliating because Tony Mowbray, the former manager, caused the defeat.

Michael Beale faced more criticism following the game because of the most recent sequence of outcomes. After the 2-1 loss, the manager received a critical evaluation and apologized to Trai Hume for the incident that occurred during the match.

The loss has undoubtedly hurt Sunderland’s chances of making the playoffs, as the team is currently four points outside of the top six in 10th.
Sunderland led the game at halftime, but they were unable to maintain their lead as they gave up twice in the second half.

The atmosphere around St. Andrew’s, according to Birmingham City player Miyoshi, scared the Sunderland players and made it easier for them to lose.

I am very happy to win in front of these amazing fans,” Miyoshi said. “They made us very confident in the second half. I feel we dominated the game until we conceded the goal, but it’s an easy mistake.

“We controlled the game and in the second half we didn’t lose confidence. These fans improved our confidence.

“That was amazing for us. When we played the game we were feeling like the fans were really behind us. When they shouted at the opponents I think they felt some fear from the fans.”

It’s no secret that Sunderland’s away performance this season has been awful. In their 17 road games in the Championship, the team has only triumphed four times.

To make it to the playoffs, the Black Cats have primarily relied on their performance at the Stadium of Light. Due to their inability to defeat Birmingham or Huddersfield in recent weeks, they were forced out of the playoffs.

This is something that Beale needs to address right away if he wants to win back supporters. If Sunderland hopes to make the playoffs at the conclusion of the season, they will need to string together a winning run of play both at home and away.
