New York City Mayor Eric Adams reaffirmed his support for a key advisor, Winnie Greco, despite FBI raids on properties linked to her and ongoing federal investigations involving members of his administration. Greco, who serves as the director of Asian affairs and has a longstanding relationship with Adams, had two Bronx addresses searched by FBI agents. This marks at least the third instance of federal agents targeting homes of Adams’ aides. Additionally, there’s a separate federal probe examining potential illegal campaign contributions involving Adams’ campaign and the Turkish government.

Adams stated that his administration is fully cooperating with investigators and emphasized his commitment to serving the city. He defended Greco, expressing confidence in her during various media appearances. Although initially reported as being placed on administrative leave, Greco is currently on sick leave following a medical episode during the raid. The mayor’s office clarified that Greco won’t undertake any city duties until the investigation concludes.

The purpose of Thursday’s raid overseen by the U.S. attorney’s office in Brooklyn hasn’t been disclosed, and federal authorities haven’t linked it directly to Adams. However, in November, the city’s Department of Investigation initiated a probe into Greco’s conduct after allegations surfaced regarding her political fundraising and potential misuse of her position for personal gain, as reported by local outlet The City.
