KEY POINTS
Following relegation, Leicester City hopes to quickly return to the Premier League by offloading important players.
Prominent players with expiring contracts—Ndidi, Praet, Albrighton, and Vardy—are about to leave.
Legendary player Vardy will say a tearful goodbye as Leicester gets ready to restructure their roster.
Leicester City is keeping up their Championship run with the goal of getting back into the Premier League right away.
Under the leadership of Brendan Rodgers and Dean Smith, the Foxes were demoted from the Premier League the previous season. Enzo Maresca is now in charge of leading the team back to the top division.

Leicester saw a number of players leave the King Power Stadium despite having a solid second-tier roster. James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, and Timothy Castagne all got notable compensation.
More Foxes players are expected to go in the summer, with contract disputes and transfer rumors playing a part.
The Leicester players who are most likely to depart the team starting in June are listed here at Football League World.
First up is Wilfred Ndidi, a Nigerian international whose contract with the East Midlands is about to expire.

The 27-year-old first connected with the Foxes in 2017 and, a year after joining the team, inked a six-year contract extension.

Since Ndidi’s current contract status was widely known, several teams competed to recruit the midfield player in the January transfer window.
Ndidi was reportedly being watched by Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Brentford in November, according to TEAMtalk. Meanwhile, Spanish publication Sport said that La Liga powerhouse Barcelona was “well positioned” to finalize a transfer.

Ndidi is being watched by several European teams, including Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Lyon, and Sevilla.

The Lagos-born midfielder is being pursued by several prestigious teams, therefore it’s likely that he’ll sign a free transfer in the Summer

Dennis Praet, a midfielder, is another Leicester player nearing the end of his contract.

The 29-year-old signed a contract in August 2019 that is set to expire this summer for five years.

Praet nears a century of Foxes appearances, however he did miss some of the 2021–2022 season playing for Italian team Torino.

The Belgian is probably saying farewell to King Power Stadium at the end of the season following a protracted tenure with the team.

Since joining Leicester in 2014, the former player for Aston Villa has had an amazing career. He helped the team avoid relegation in his first season and went on to win the Premier League title the following year in one of the biggest sporting upsets in history.

Albrighton has made almost 300 appearances for Leicester, but as his contract nears its end, it might be time to split ways following a disappointing loan stint at West Bromwich Albion last season.

Jamie Vardy, who will go down as one of Leicester’s most iconic players, rounds out the group. After spending eleven and a half years in the East Midlands, the striker, who is from Sheffield, is the member of the Foxes with the longest tenure.

Vardy had an amazing season in which he assisted eight goals and scored 24 goals in the Premier League winning season.

Vardy would go on to break Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s record during that time by scoring in 11 straight top-flight games.

The 37-year-old would garner additional individual accolades in the 2019–20 campaign, taking home the Players’ and Clubs’ Player of the Season trophies before taking home the Premier League Golden Boot with 23 goals.

After two seasons, the forward scored 150 goals for the team and shot to the top 10 of Leicester’s all-time appearance makers.

Along with the Premier League championship, Vardy’s three medals with the Foxes include an FA Cup and a Community Shield win.
Vardy’s goal scoring consistency has decreased with age (he is 37), and even if Leicester return to the Premier League, it is unlikely that he would score as frequently as he once did.

With only a few months left on his deal, Vardy will be saying goodbye to the team that changed his life.
