Jack Clarke, the Black Cats’ standout player, is expected to draw a lot of interest, particularly from the London Stadium.
One of the most talked-about transfer stories in the EFL during the January transfer window was Jack Clarke, the top player for Sunderland.
Following a strong first half of the 2023–24 season, clubs both domestically and abroad were showing a lot of interest in the 23-year-old.

West Ham United was apparently interested in signing Clarke, and if rumors are to be believed, they were offered a cost of £20 million to do so.

Naturally, during the January transfer window, only the Hammers and no other team fit this valuation.

But considering their current situation, Sunderland should definitely be prepared for bids from the Hammers this summer.

The London Stadium is not in a good mood, even though the team is ninth in the Premier League despite their recent bad performance.

Although David Moyes, the manager of the Hammers, is facing criticism from the supporters, he has acknowledged that he has been given the option to stay after his current contract expires at the end of the season.
This puts the team in a depressing state, and if fans decide they no longer want Moyes in control, they can feel pessimistic about the future.

But as we’ve seen in the past, big additions are one method to win over supporters, so Sunderland should be ready for West Ham to make an offer for Clarke very early in the summer.

Fans of the Hammers would undoubtedly be thrilled to sign such an exciting prospect as the winger, especially in light of Jarrod Bowen’s recent success at the London Stadium.
After Bowen’s successful EFL transfer to West Ham in January 2020, Hull City was effectively demoted to League One since they were unable to find a suitable replacement for the player.

In 117 appearances overall in the Championship, Bowen recorded 52 goals and 12 assists to win a transfer to the London Stadium, where he has since maintained his high level of performance.

With 54 goals and 36 assists in his 200 Hammers appearances, Bowen is getting close to reaching the 200-game milestone. He also won the UEFA Europa Conference League the previous season, earning him a European medal.

If Bowen could succeed in the Premier League and provide results for West Ham, there’s no reason Clarke can’t do the same this summer. For those who love West Ham, this is cause for celebration.

The Black Cats’ wisest move might be to sell the player early to a team like West Ham, which would give them plenty of time to discover and bring in a replacement—or replacements, for that matter—despite their desire to delay things down, ignite a bidding war, and demand the greatest price for the player.

Sunderland shouldn’t hold out hope of retaining Clarke, especially as his agent Ian Harte recently said that the player will “hopefully” move on this summer unless they manage to win promotion.

Rather, they ought to acknowledge the truth of their circumstances, profit from Clarke, and make new investments.

Even though Clarke is a tremendous player that no Sunderland supporter wants to see depart anytime soon, the club must now execute the plan they have followed in previous seasons with their constant acquisition of new talent.
