BREAKING:How Southampton and Liverpool might lineup

Two new injury concerns have been brought to Liverpool’s attention ahead of their FA Cup fifth-round match against Southampton at Anfield on Wednesday.

The Reds defeated Chelsea 1-0, despite missing 11 players from the start of the match, to win the EFL Cup for the tenth time after 120 minutes of exhausting action at Wembley on Sunday.

After Wataru Endo was observed on crutches to navigate the mixed zone, Ryan Gravenberch was stretchered off with an ankle injury in the first half, bringing Liverpool’s infirm list to an unfortunate 13.
In addition to Alisson Becker (hamstring), Curtis Jones (shine), Ben Doak (knee), Joel Matip (knee), Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee), Diogo Jota (knee), Stefan Bajcetic (calf), and Thiago Alcantara (muscle) are also in the infirmary. Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Dominik Szoboszlai were also deemed unfit to play in the EFL Cup final.

Nunez’s dash across the sidelines during the Reds’ celebration gave rise to hopes of an impending return, but with just over 72 hours to recover, Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to see any improvements in Nunez’s fitness before the Saints visit.

The Reds manager still has the option to rearrange the pack, bringing in Jarell Quansah, Joe Gomez, and Kostas Tsimikas to give Andrew Robertson, Ibrahima Konate, and match-winning Virgil van Dijk a well-earned break.

Two academy products who were uninvited to the Wembley field were Bobby Clark and James McConnell. As a result of Endo and Gravenberch’s worries, the two are now well-positioned to line up with Alexis Mac Allister in the engine room.

Luis Diaz’s weariness may also help Jayden Danns, but Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott might have to go again unless Klopp decides to bring in Trey Nyoni or Lewis Koumas to give his starting lineup an even younger vibe.

Potential starting lineup for Liverpool: Keleher; Bradley, Gomez, Quansah, Tsimikas; McConnell, Mac Allister, Clark; Danns, Elliott, Gakpo
