Cardinals concluded talks to let go of super LT player for reasons of…
The Cardinals let go of experienced LT D.J. Humphries during the offseason due to a torn ACL. Arizona OT Paris Johnson Jr. expressed his desire to maintain Humphries’ enthusiasm and love for the game within the team as he steps into Humphries’ role on the left side of the line. Johnson stated, “I aim to bring the same level of energy that Humphries did.
He infused the room with a lot of excitement and positivity—it was innate for him—allowing me to solely concentrate on my game.” “I didn’t have to worry about how others felt when they came in because Hump took care of that.”
“But now that Hump’s gone… I want to step up and ensure everyone’s pumped for practice, ready for team drills, even on off days. I want to bring that vibe because that’s what Hump and I did for each other. We’d hype each other up, even for walk-throughs. I want to bring that energy and inspire more guys to do the same.”
OverTheCap highlights that the Cardinals saved $16 million on June 1 by releasing Humphries. They’ll spread his $13.8 million in dead money evenly over 2024 and 2025.
