While a move to the Super League seems less likely, Chad Townsend has discussed the possibility of concluding his career in Australia with Canterbury Bulldogs, an NRL team.
Townsend and the Catalan Dragons have discussed Townsend’s possible move to England in the upcoming season; this would be a huge coup for both the Dragons and Super League.
Other teams have been made aware of Townsend’s potential availability as he is in the last year of his contract with the North Queensland Cowboys and is likely to be on the move at the end of the current campaign.
However, Canterbury has now joined the fight for his signing and is in negotiations with the half-back to see if they can make a move for him.
Chris Orr, Orr’s representative, said that Townsend still has a lot to offer teams throughout the globe.
Orr told the Sydney Morning Herald, “Having someone like Chad in your club provides another level of guidance and footy IQ to the team.”
