Due in large part to their selection of Texas wide receiver AD Mitchell in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts concluded their weekend with one of the strongest classes of any franchise.

The offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter and local scouts are heard praising Mitchell in a video released by the Colts. General manager Chris Ballard is negotiating with the Carolina Panthers to obtain Pick No. 52, which will be used to choose the Texas wide receiver. When Mitchell’s enormous potential was brought up, the entire room brightened.

Following the pick, Ballard unleashed a tirade on the local press, defending Mitchell against the anonymous scout remarks about his character and off-field problems. Mitchell has pledged to make the Colts appear to be superhuman.

The Colts have stacked the alien-looking quarterback Anthony Richardson with Josh Downs, Mitchell, Alec Pierce, and the seasoned Michael Pittman Jr. at wide out in an attempt to become more dynamic offensively. Apart from Downs, who serves as an excellent filler in that offense, it is evident that the Colts have a particular type and preference when it comes to wide receivers.

The Colts also let the dice fall their way in the opening round, selecting UCLA pass rusher Laiatu Latu with pick No. 15—the first defensive player off the board. In the 2024 NFL Draft, he and Mitchell will both want to show the Colts why they were smart to bring them to Indianapolis.
