The Oklahoma Sooners have successfully recruited one of their top targets for the 2025 cycle, securing a commitment from standout in-state defensive back Trystan Haynes, who announced his decision via social media. Haynes, now the 15th addition to Oklahoma’s 2025 roster, is the eighth defensive player and the fourth defensive back to commit to the class. Opting to stay close to home, he chose Oklahoma over offers from Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Miami.

Expressing his excitement about representing his home state and competing alongside his teammates from Carl Albert, Haynes highlighted his desire to contribute to Oklahoma’s national prominence, especially as they transition to the SEC.

Ranked by 247Sports Composite Player Rankings as the No. 151 overall recruit in the 2025 class and the No. 18 cornerback nationally, Haynes is regarded as one of the top talents in Oklahoma. Additionally, within the 247Sports Network’s rankings, he ranks even higher, standing at No. 119 nationally and among the top corners in the country.

According to scouting reports, Haynes possesses agile man coverage skills, exceptional speed, and a knack for making big plays. With his ability to excel on both defense and special teams, he is seen as a high-major prospect with considerable potential.

Haynes’s commitment solidifies the strong connection between Norman, Oklahoma, and Carl Albert High School, adding another talented player to the list of Sooners alumni from the program.

Meanwhile, in softball news, despite losing their first-ever three-game series to Texas and their first-ever three-game home series to Oklahoma State, the Sooners secured second place in the Big 12 standings after defeating Oklahoma State 8-2. This marks the first time in 12 years that Oklahoma won’t be the first-place team in the regular season. However, they remain a top seed heading into the Big 12 Tournament, where they will compete for another conference title and a shot at the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
