Blake Snell, a free agent and starting pitcher who won the Cy Young Award the previous season, is still available for work. For the San Diego Padres, Snell was outstanding, finishing the season with an ERA of 2.25.

Snell is still without a team even with Spring Training in full swing. We’ve been waiting for him for a long time, but no team has been prepared to pay the price to have him.

The New York Yankees have been one team that has been frequently associated with Snell during the offseason. It’s been speculated that the front staff sees a chance to put Snell and Gerritt Cole together to form a potent one-two punch at the top of the lineup.

But according to Jon Heyman of The New York Post, the Yankees are a “longshot” to sign Snell. All winter long, New York has been refusing to pay Snell’s exorbitant asking price.
