Wisconsin junior safety Hunter Wohler received the honor of being named a CSC Academic All-American, an announcement made by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday morning. Wohler secured a place on the All-America second team for his outstanding academic and athletic achievements.

Hailing from Muskego, Wisconsin, Wohler showcased his prowess on the field by leading the Badgers with an impressive 120 tackles, earning him AP All-Big Ten honors in 2023. Notably, Wohler’s tackle count marked the highest for a Wisconsin defensive back since 1991, and he stood out as the sole defensive back nationwide to achieve 110+ tackles and multiple interceptions in the previous season. Of his 120 tackles, 74 were solo tackles, representing the most in a single season for a Badger since 2001.

Wohler’s exceptional season included a notable two-interception performance against Georgia Southern on September 16 and a remarkable 12-tackle display to conclude the regular season with a victory over Minnesota in a rivalry matchup.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Wohler has maintained a commendable 3.619 GPA in the Wisconsin School of Business, pursuing a degree in Real Estate & Urban Land Economics. In addition to his academic pursuits, Wohler has actively contributed to the Badgers’ community service initiatives. Over the past year, he has participated in activities such as reading at schools, engaging with Boys & Girls Club programs, and making visits to the American Family Children’s Hospital.

Hunter Wohler’s recognition as an Academic All-American marks a significant achievement, making him the first Badger to earn this status since defensive lineman Matt Henningsen received the honor in both 2020 and 2021. Wohler now joins the ranks of 20 Badgers who have earned this prestigious recognition since 1952.
