Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill signed forwards Matěj Blümel and Emilio Pettersen to one-year, two-way contracts starting in the 2024-25 season. In his second AHL season, Blümel led Texas in goals and ranked second in points. He set career highs in goals, assists, and points, finishing fifth in the league in goals and power-play tallies.

In the Calder Cup Playoffs, Blümel led the club in goals and ranked second in points and fifth in assists. Blümel represented the Central Division at the 2024 AHL All-Star Classic, marking his first appearance. From Tabor, Czechia, Blümel has 106 points in 130 regular-season AHL games and 10 points in 13 Calder Cup Playoff games, all with Texas.

Blümel, who was chosen by Edmonton in the fourth round (100th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft, recently signed a two-year entry-level contract with Dallas on June 6, 2022. In his six NHL regular-season games, all with Dallas, he has scored one goal (1-0—1).

Pettersen, who is 24 years old, played for both the Calgary Wranglers and the Texas Stars during the 2023-24 AHL regular season. He recorded 30 points (7-23—30) in 54 games before being traded to Dallas on March 7. At the time of the trade, Pettersen ranked second in assists (23) and fourth in points for Calgary. After joining the Stars organization, he contributed eight points (4-4—8) in 12 regular-season games with Texas and added five points (2-3—5) in seven Calder Cup Playoff games. In the postseason, he tied for fourth on the team with two goals and shared sixth place with five points.

Pettersen, a forward who stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 180 pounds, has played in a total of 215 AHL games with Texas and the Stockton/Calgary franchise. Throughout his AHL career, he has accumulated 122 points (49-73—122). He was originally selected by Calgary in the sixth round (167th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft. In the Calder Cup Playoffs, Pettersen has recorded 10 points (4-6—10) in 23 games.
