Breaking the norm, defensive tackle DaQuan Jones was the first to announce Johnson’s signing with the Bills. Known for his exuberant personality, Jones has been enthusiastically endorsing Johnson since news of his visit to Orchard Park, NY surfaced.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Johnson’s contract is valued at up to $4 million for the one-year term. This signing reunites Jones and Johnson, who previously played together for the Tennessee Titans, bringing their camaraderie to the Bills’ defensive line.

Standing at an imposing 6’4″ and weighing 314 pounds, Johnson brings considerable experience to the Bills, with eight years in the NFL. His versatility allows him to excel in various defensive schemes, having played as both an outside and interior lineman.

Johnson’s career trajectory includes stints with the Tennessee Titans, New York Giants, and most recently, the Los Angeles Chargers. Despite a brief setback due to injury in 2022, he returned strongly in 2023, starting all 17 games for the Chargers.

Throughout his career, Johnson has showcased his ability to disrupt offenses, tallying notable statistics such as 241 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and eight sacks. His standout season came in 2021 with the Giants, where he achieved career highs in various categories.

The addition of Johnson bolsters the Bills’ defensive front, providing them with another impactful interior presence. Expected to contribute as a rotational player, Johnson’s versatility aligns well with the Bills’ defensive scheme, making him an ideal fit for the team’s plans in the upcoming season.
