The New York Knicks were unable to secure victory against the Indiana Pacers, missing several opportunities to clinch the win and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. Nevertheless, despite these setbacks, the season was deemed a success for the team overall.

Therefore, despite the challenges, there is a clear determination to retain Tom Thibodeau as head coach for another season at least. With his contract set to expire after the upcoming year, Thibodeau mentioned that his agent would handle negotiations for a contract extension, emphasizing his commitment to remaining with the team in the future.

Thibodeau has faced criticism for pushing his players to play heavy minutes, a trend that has followed him throughout his career. This time around, though, he might receive some leniency due to the abundance of injuries, leading him to rely on players from his second unit. However, concerns persist about the long-term impact of his coaching style on player health.

Past players like Joakim Noah, Derrick Rose, Luol Deng, and to some extent, Jimmy Butler, have grappled with injuries after playing under Thibodeau. Additionally, his teams have historically underperformed due to injuries or fatigue, which has ultimately cost him his job in some cases. Hopefully, next season will see a healthier roster, as the team is not far from contending for a championship.
