Dockers move over the drama and concentrate on the power test

According to Justin Longmuir, Fremantle has moved past the contentious AFL loss to Carlton and is now focused on winning their first game against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

Following the Dockers’ season-opening loss, there were suggestions for a “captain’s challenge” system, in which clubs may use video reviews to challenge controversial umpiring calls.

The proposal was made after the league acknowledged that Matthew Cottrell’s late marker, which was touched by Fremantle defenders and resulted in the goal that put the Blues ahead in the last minute, should not have been paid.

Matthew Kennedy scored a goal that put an end to any dreams of a Dockers victory with another contentious free kick against Jordan Clark for dissent before the ball had returned to the center circle.

Longmuir stated that Fremantle is fully focused on getting ready for their matchup with fellow 3-1 team Port Adelaide on Saturday night. Discussions on the contentious finish have raged in recent days.

In their six prior meetings at Adelaide Oval against the Power, the Dockers had never prevailed.

Before Wednesday’s practice at Glenelg Oval, Longmuir told reporters, “We have a process that once my meeting’s done on Monday we move on and look out the front window to focus on the team we’re playing.”

The guys appeared extremely focused and focused this morning, which is encouraging.

A lot of external criticism is leveled at a single scene or the previous four minutes, but a comprehensive analysis of the game is conducted when reviewing it.

“We may have lost that game against Carlton on the outside, but I felt we played a lot of good football.”

“But I thought our contest and the way we set the ground up was really strong … so we take a lot of positives out of the game.”

AFL football boss Laura Kane this week dismissed the “captain’s challenge” idea and Longmuir didn’t want to buy into the discussion.

“In this industry we jump at shadows until it becomes a theme. I’ll just leave it alone,” he said.

Fremantle ruck star Sean Darcy is a chance to return from a knee injury against Port Adelaide but Michael Frederick (hamstring) will miss out.

Fellow forward Sam Switkowski (calf) is also in doubt, with Neil Erasmus shaping as a likely inclusion in attack.

Darcy has not played since round 18 last season, when an ankle injury cut short his 2023 campaign.

Longmuir confirmed the No.1 ruckman will initially be limited when he resumes his partnership with versatile star Luke Jackson.
