“Done deal”: An announcement is anticipated following the next Sunderland manager contender update.

With connections to Sunderland, there has been a significant update over the Danish manager’s future.
Bo Svensson can be crossed off Sunderland’s list of possible Michael Beale successors.

The 44-year-old hasn’t had a job since quitting German team Mainz in November of last year. This was his second head coaching position after a stint with FC Liefering in Austria. Svensson was reportedly a “shock candidate” for the Sunderland position earlier this month, according to The Sun, who also stated that the Dane was on the Black Cats’ shortlist.

Svensson, though, is scheduled to sign with Union Berlin in the Bundesliga this week after it was made public a few days ago that the managing director Horst Heldt and the head coach were having talks. According to Sky Germany, Svensson’s acquisition of Union Berlin is now a “done deal,” and this week, an announcement is expected.

Following their dismissal of Michael Beale in February, Sunderland is currently looking for a new head coach. Mike Dodds was appointed interim manager for the remainder of the 2023–2024 campaign.
