Ole Miss’ cornerback group is receiving a much-needed boost this offseason as Isaiah Hamilton, a seasoned cornerback from Houston who entered the transfer portal, has revealed his decision to join Pete Golding’s defensive unit in Oxford. Hamilton opted for the Ole Miss Rebels over other contenders like Michigan, Alabama, and Missouri.

In his junior year, Hamilton, during his lone season at Houston, showcased his prowess with 50 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, four pass deflections, and four interceptions while starting in 12 games as a cornerback for the 4-8 Cougars. Following this season, Houston underwent a coaching change, replacing Dana Holgerson with Willie Fritz from Tulane.

Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 175 pounds, the Texas native began his college journey at Texas Southern, where he played as a true freshman and sophomore from 2021 to 2022. During this time, he accumulated 40 total tackles, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, seven interceptions, and scored two touchdowns for the Tigers. Impressed by his performance, Houston recruited him, making him part of their team for the 2023 season.

Hamilton’s arrival strengthens the cornerback lineup at Oxford, which already includes Trey Amos, Chris Graves Jr., Brandon Turnage, Cedrick Beavers, and AJ Brown. With cornerback being one of the thinner position groups for the 2024 Ole Miss Rebels, his addition was crucial for the team. Losing corner Amorion Walker in the April transfer portal, whom they had recently acquired from Michigan, further emphasized the need for depth. Hamilton’s presence brings valuable experience to Bryan Brown’s cornerback roster.
