DOUBLE EXCITEMENT: Ravens Sign $45 Million Free Agent

The Baltimore Ravens, amidst significant losses during free agency, might seek a budget-friendly option like Carl Lawson to replenish their roster. Lawson, an edge defender, faced injury challenges in the 2023 season but could present a promising opportunity for the right team. With notable departures, including Jadeveon Clowney, who had a standout season in 2023, the Ravens find themselves without an experienced edge defender to complement their lineup.

Despite retaining Kyle Van Noy, the Ravens have yet to adequately replace Clowney. Hindered by salary cap constraints, they prioritized other positions in the NFL Draft, potentially leaving room for a seasoned player like Lawson to fill the gap. While the rookie Adisa Isaac might contribute, Bleacher Report suggests the Ravens consider signing Lawson for his low-risk, high-reward potential.

Lawson, often overlooked due to injuries, signed a substantial deal in free agency but faced setbacks shortly after. However, his previous seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals showcased his talent. Though 2023 was challenging, Lawson demonstrated his capability in 2022, suggesting he could still offer value at 29 years old, making him an attractive option for the Ravens on a one-year deal.

While the Ravens are interested, they aren’t the only team eyeing Lawson. Teams like the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers, and Kansas City Chiefs could also vie for his services, each seeing potential in the veteran defender to bolster their roster.
