The Duke basketball program has experienced six departures from last year’s roster, including transfers and NBA Draft selections. Head coach Jon Scheyer and the coaching staff are anticipating the arrival of the top-ranked recruiting class, but there could be further additions to next year’s roster.

According to a report by On3’s Joe Tipton on Monday afternoon, Syracuse transfer forward Maliq Brown is scheduled to visit Duke beginning Wednesday, with the visit expected to last until Friday.

During his initial two seasons with the Orange, the 6-foot-8 sophomore, Maliq Brown, saw significant playing time, averaging over 20 minutes per game. He had a mix of starts and appearances off the bench.

In his most recent season, he played in 32 games, averaging 9.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while maintaining an impressive field goal percentage of nearly 70%. Additionally, he recorded 2.2 steals per game, earning him a spot on the All-ACC Defensive Team.

Brown’s standout performance as a Syracuse sophomore occurred against Duke in early January, despite the Blue Devils ultimately prevailing with an 86-66 victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

He scored a career-best 26 points, shooting 11-for-16 from the field and securing seven rebounds. Notably, he has displayed prowess as an offensive rebounder, with 121 of his 363 career rebounds coming from offensive boards.

The potential role Maliq Brown could assume on the Duke basketball roster next season remains uncertain. However, with two years of ACC experience, he could offer valuable contributions to the team.
