In the NBA, the exceptional Blue Devil has achieved the pinnacle.
Many NBA reporters have chastised Tatum for failing to bring Boston over the finish line until Monday night following a heartbreaking loss to the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 Finals.

The former Blue Devil averaged 22.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game during the series and came close to recording a triple-double with 31 points, eight rebounds, and 11 assists on 11 of 24 shooting, but he was not selected as the Most Valuable Player.

Jaylen Brown, who was also the Eastern Conference Finals Most Valuable Player, was named as the MVP of The Finals after posting 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per contest.

After the award’s creation, Tatum became the first player in NBA history to lead an NBA champion in playoff assists, rebounds, and scoring while failing to win Finals MVP.

In the league’s history, only a select few players—Hakeem Olajuwon, Tim Duncan, LeBron James (twice), and Nikola Jokic—have won Finals MVP.

In addition, Tatum made history by being the first Celtics player since Bird in 1986 to finish a Finals game with at least 20 points, 10 assists, and five rebounds. Before turning 27, he passed Kobe Bryant for the record of most points scored during his NBA Playoffs career.

Sharing his MVP honors for the Finals with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown announced from the platform, referring to him as his “partner in crime.” Since Tatum was selected third overall from Duke in the 2017 NBA Draft, the two have worked together in Boston.

Playing for Team USA in the Olympics in Paris in late July, Jayson Tatum could be in for a very exciting summer.
