JJ Redick has become widely known in basketball media thanks to his impressive career both on the court and in broadcasting. Transitioning from his standout college years at Duke to a successful NBA tenure, he now appears regularly on ESPN as an analyst, commentates games with Mike Breen and Doris Burke, and hosts two podcasts focused on basketball.

When news broke about Redick launching a podcast alongside NBA superstar LeBron James, many were intrigued to hear the interactions between the two veteran players. Now, it appears their relationship could evolve from peers and former rivals to that of mentor and mentee.

According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin on the Dan Patrick Show, the Lakers seem to be considering potential candidates for their upcoming head coaching search, with Redick and Los Angeles Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue emerging as top contenders. This comes amid speculation that the Lakers may part ways with current head coach Darvin Ham.

Redick has already been associated with potential head coaching roles this offseason, having recently interviewed with the Charlotte Hornets.

With his extensive basketball experience, including being the all-time leading scorer for Duke University and a 15-year NBA career spanning six teams, he brings a wealth of expertise to the table. While it’s unclear how keen he is on the position, his existing rapport with LeBron James could position him as a prime candidate for the Lakers as they strive to strengthen their team and contend in the upcoming season.
