Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni Has Confidence in Jalen Hurts Despite a Disappointing Season

The Philadelphia Eagles’ explosive 10-1 start to the season put them in position to win the championship and go all the way. After that, unfortunately, everything fell apart for them as they dropped seven of their next eight games, culminating in a sad postseason loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round.

Star quarterback Jalen Hurts took a lot of flak for it all. To some way, it was only fitting that the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback, who was the center of attention during Philly’s successful run, was scrutinized when the Eagles went down the drain.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has complete faith in the team’s starting quarterback even after a difficult 2023 campaign. The Philadelphia shot caller really made a clear declaration recently that supports the storyline of Hurts’ return for the upcoming season:

Now that Jalen Hurts has been paid, it's your turn - Sports Illustrated

“Here’s what I know about Jalen, whatever we see that he needs to work on or he sees that he needs to work on, he’s going to get better at that because he puts everything he has into it, and that’s a form of leadership too,” Sirianni said, via Josh Alper of PFT. “Like Jalen sees something that he feels is a weakness of his or we feel like is a weakness of his, he’s going to dive everything that he has and pour everything that he has into it to get better from that. Like that’s leadership. That’s a form of leadership. I’ll keep some of the things we all talked about, what I need to get better at, what he needs to get better at, to ourselves. But I know this, that he’ll put everything he has into getting better as a football player, being better as a quarterback so we can win more games as a team.”

Hurts had to work hard and make sacrifices in order to reach his current position. The 25-year-old has faced hardship in the past, but as Sirianni vehemently contended, he is confident that Hurts will be able to recover.

Hurts, along with the rest of the Eagles, will undoubtedly be playing with a chip on their shoulder in the upcoming season. The remainder of the league needs to be prepared for what lies next.
