Andy Murray, the two-time Wimbledon winner, announced that he will miss a “long period” of time due to an ankle injury. Emma Raducanu is praying for him. There are worries that if Murray’s chances of competing at Wimbledon this summer are seriously damaged, he would announce his retirement.

Thomas Machac defeated the 36-year-old on Sunday in the Miami Open’s final-32. He disclosed that he will be out for a while due to an ankle injury he sustained toward the end of the game, crying out in pain as he hit the floor.

“I suffered a full rupture of my anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) and a near full thickness rupture of my calcaneofibular ligament (CFL) yesterday towards the end of my match in Miami,” the player said.

“When I get home, I’ll see an ankle specialist to figure out what to do next. Needless to say, this is difficult to accept, and I’ll be away for a while.

Murray concluded the tweet with a joke, saying, “I’ll be back with one hip and no ankle ligaments when the time is right.” Murray underwent hip resurfacing surgery in 2019.

The social media message was reposted by fellow Briton Raducanu, who has battled her own injury issues for the past year. She included two praying emojis. It’s obvious that the 21-year-old hopes Murray will get back on the court soon and be well enough to play in Wimbledon one last time.

Prior to this summer, Murray has acknowledged that he had no intention of playing “much past.” He has now realized that he has played his last match at the Miami Open, a competition he has won twice in his professional career.

“I wasn’t considering every game I engaged in. More than that, I’m going to play my final match here, which is unfortunate because I adore this place,” an obviously distraught Murray stated following his loss to Machac.

I wish I could have continued here for a little while longer because I have spent so much of my career here. I was feeling a little more emotional when I left the court because this tournament is significant to me.

Murray went on, “I am looking forward to the end now, give my best the next few months and get to be at home with my family,” which was a heartbreaking statement.

Murray still has three months to rehabilitate and be ready to play in Wimbledon, where he hopes to make a final appearance. It is anticipated that the three-time Grand Slam winner will withdraw shortly after the competition.
